Dad Things - Issue #45
This will probably be my last issue on Revue. Elon 🤡 recently reinstated Trump's 🍊account which goes against my morals. He used the platform to help incite the January 6 insurrection, and I don't want to use a service that is related to Twitter and Musk.
I'm torn on Twitter. It has helped me connect with a whole bunch of similar minded nerds but is now owned by a clueless billionaire. For the time being, I will continue to consume, but I will move anything I create or post to other platforms.
It's a long weekend here in the US. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Casey Newton has a pretty detailed summary of what has happened/is going on at Twitter. There are a ton of tweets and takes so here are mine.
I think Elon is a clown. He thinks big and was able to push Tesla, Space X, and Paypal to success but I feel like that approach doesn't work with a social media company.
His managerial skills leave A LOT to be desired. Calls to be "hardcore", giving ultimatums for employment, etc. are completely tone deaf. It will work for the fanbois but not everyone worships him. He is dealing with people's livelihoods and it seems like that does not process with him.
He's just seems so out of touch. Either because he's a billionaire or is on the Autism spectrum, he does not seem he can relate with or empathize with a lot of people.
I host this newsletter on Revue which Twitter bought awhile back. I plan on moving this to most likely Substack. I don't plan on leaving Twitter, but I am definitely planning on owning more of where I post my content. Still, nothing beats consuming news and content on Twitter.
Well that was quick.
This renovated Eichler is amazing.
What a shit show.
